High visibility login option
You can now use the little cog in the bottom right to choose an alternative login layout. It'll support those students who are visually impaired in being able to access the site more easily.
More options can be found in the 'My Account' section.
Colour
We've got a choice of different colour schemes, so students can choose whichever they find the most readable.
Example 1:
Example 2:
Font - online games
We have two font size options, and two font options.
Huge font does exactly what you'd expect. It makes the font as big as we can reasonably make it, so is better for visually impaired learners.
Lexie font is designed for better readability for dyslexic students.
Example of Lexi font:
Font - Worksheets
We have also added the option to print worksheets for paper data in large font. When you select a set of worksheets, you'll see the following option.
Declutter mode
This removes any background or additional information / images on the screen that might distract.
Decluttered:
You'll also find additional 'declutter' options specifically for the game page, allowing you to hide the clock, the scoring, and the numberpad.
Colourblind mode
This will change the user to the black and white colour theme, so there are no red/green elements, particularly in the heatmap.
It also means the correct / incorrect answer display changes from red/green to black & white.
Screenreader support
We have also added support for screenreaders, allowing visually impaired students to be able to navigate around the site themselves. All web browsers have their own screenreaders - please search on how to set the screenreader up for your learner's particular browser.
Audio options
We offer "hear aloud" questions and offer a microphone options for "speak answers" in the settings.
Important:
When using a browser (on mobile or desktop):
Speak Answers and Hear Questions features are not supported on Firefox or Edge browsers. Please use Chrome or Safari for the best experience.
When using the TTRS App:
Speak answers is not available but Hear Questions is available.
When switched on, you can see the status of the microphone along the top of the game screen as shown:
The icons have different states, to clearly indicate what's happening:
Greyed out -> Microphone permission has either not been granted by the user yet, or using the microphone isn’t supported on their device
Greyed out with a cross -> Microphone is available but the user has the “speak answers” turned off
Microphone white -> Speak answers is turned on but isn’t currently listening (eg. The question is being read out)
Microphone is white and pulsing -> It is listening for your answer
