As teachers, parents or edu-business owners ourselves, we're extremely conscious of child safety so we take all concerns seriously. That's why we will never show a full student name anywhere on our platform where it's visible to other students.

In fact, we take this one step further.

As default, only avatar names (fake names which students pick when they first use the site and are called "Rock Names") are shown.

Default settings for all schools:

Teachers do have the ability to change these settings to show "First Name and Initial" instead of Rock Name. However, there are some important caveats:

1) First name and initial will only ever be visible to students in the SAME school. Even if a teacher changes the default settings to "First name and initial", the name won't show in any competitions that happen between multiple schools. Instead, Rock Name will still be used.

2) Students have the option to hide themselves if they don't want their name to be visible. They can do this by going to "Settings" and choosing Hide Me as shown below:

By hiding themselves, they will override any teacher settings and appear as "Pupil is hidden" in all leaderboards and charts.
