First-time maths lead for TTRS/NumBots - Launch ideas (8)

Getting your school off to the best start with TTRS and NumBots.

Launching TTRS

How you kick Times Tables Rock Stars off in your school is up to you, but all the best launch days involve:

  • A launch assembly to role TTRS out across the school. The more pupils in the school involved in the programme, the bigger, more exciting and engaging it becomes for them! You may like to download our launch presentation, or incorporate our Times Tables Rock Stars launch video into your assembly:

  • Older pupils already using TTRS to give a live demonstration, talk about how they use TTRS or create a video to be shown in assembly.

  • Rock music - view playlist here

  • Teachers dressed up as rock stars - there's no better way to engage children in maths than getting their headteacher to reveal their rock alter ego!

  • School displays, certificates and a Hall of Fame - find out more.

  • Announce a Battle of the Bands, leaderboard or future live competition.

  • Air guitars (of course!)

Launching NumBots

We've made a PowerPoint to show to the pupils and a lesson plan for teachers to follow to help get NumBots up and running in your school.

Launch PowerPoint

The PowerPoint has been created as a resource that can be used in the classroom to introduce NumBots and provide guidance on how to use it. The PowerPoint will run through:

  • An intro video to build up excitement.

  • How story mode works.

  • How pupils can log in and what to do when they first log in.

  • Learning intentions/objectives for NumBots.

  • What rewards the children can earn.

Lesson Plan

The lesson plan contains everything the teacher will need to explain and run through with the children. The PowerPoint will explain most things, you will just need to check the pupils are doing the right thing and are able to log in. Overall, the launch lesson will consist of:

  • 10-minute starter.

  • 20-minute NumBots walkthrough.

  • 15-minute plenary.
