Please select which type of user has a locked account:

Teacher account has been locked

If a teacher has attempted to enter an incorrect password too many times, they will see this message:

The teacher will receive an email explaining that a number of unsuccessful login attempts have been made on their account.

To unlock, please ask the teacher to reset their password. They can do this by clicking the link in the email or clicking the "I forgot my password" button at the bottom of the login page.

They must enter the email address which is associated with their TT Rock Stars account into the pop-up:

A new password will be securely sent to the teacher by email.

Student account has been locked

If a student has attempted to enter an incorrect password too many times, they will see this message:

The account will stay locked for approximately 8 hours. After this time, the student can try again to log in.

If the student is still struggling to unlock their account, a teacher can do this for them:

To unlock a student account the teacher should log in then visit Account > Click class name > Find student > Click Unlock

Important: Teachers don’t receive any notification when a student is locked out. However, all unsuccessful login attempts are logged in case of abuse.

Frequently asked questions

Can a school request to disable this feature?

No. We have introduced this login protection to ensure your Maths Circle account is secure, so it cannot be disabled. ‘Brute force protection’ is a requirement for nationally recognised security certifications (such as Cyber Essentials and ST4S) and is required in the educational sector.

Why does a student account automatically unlock after 8 hours but not a teacher account?

This is due to the difference in sensitivity of data held within the accounts.
