Allow your learners to use credits from their budget to unlock activities

What is the user budget feature? ๐Ÿค”

The user budget feature allows learners to purchase activities for credits from their user budget. These activities are locked with a star icon. On the activity tile, learners can see how many credits they need to spend to unlock the activity shown with a yellow icon.

Learners can simply click on the tile to "buy" the activity๐Ÿ’ธ Learners should have sufficient budget to unlock a activity. If not, this will be stated in the pop-up.

Learners can monitor their budget via their user profile.

How to set up the user budget feature?

Set a price on activities:

Step 1: In TinQwise Control, navigate to Content > Activities.

Step 2: Select the activity you want to add a price to.

Step 3: Navigate to the User budget box and click on the little pencil icon in the upper right corner.

Step 4: Set a price for the activity

Step 5: Write a description (optional). The description will be shown to the learner before purchasing the activity.

Step 6: Save the user budget settings.

Step 7: Save the changes in the activity.

Granting budget for individuals:

Step 1: In TinQwise Control, navigate to Users.

Step 2: Select the user you want to grant budget to.

Step 3: Click on the blue pencil icon to edit user details.

Step 4: Edit the Budget of the user.

Step 5: Save the changes.

Granting budget for groups:

Step 1: In TinQwise Control, navigate to Behaviour > Automations

Step 3: Give the automation a name

Step 4: Choose event type and conditions depending on when you want to grant budget to the users. For example,

  • Use Check periodically (event type) combined with Is group (condition) to grant budget based on certain group memberships

  • Use activity is completed (event type) with Is activity in event (condition) to grant budget as a reward after a activity completion

Step 5: Choose the Grant budget action

  • Write a description for the transaction history. This will not be shown to the learner.

  • Credits: Set the amount of credits that you want to add to the user budget.

  • Recipient source: choose self if you want to select a specific user OR event > user if you want to apply this to any user who meets the conditions.

Step 6: Save the changes in the automation.

Good to know ๐Ÿ‘€

  • Learners are not automatically notified when credits are added to their budget. Therefore, we recommend setting up notifications together with the grant budget automations.
