Why can't I switch locations on my device?
How do I enable location switching for employees?
One of my employees is unable to log in to one of our restaurant locations - what should I do to fix this?
Answer
If an employee with access to multiple restaurant locations is unable to switch between locations on their device, follow these steps:
Login to Toast Web and navigate to Employees > Employee management > Employees.
From the Employees page, use the search bar to search for the employee’s profile.
Note: To switch between locations on a POS device, a user must have a valid email address and password to log into the Toast POS application. Refer to the Account Created column to verify if they have this information.
If they have an existing account, proceed to Step #3.
If they do not have an existing account, send them an invitation to create one by selecting their profile. Select the three dots (overflow menu) on the right and choose Invite to create an account. Once completed, the employee will receive an email asking them to set up their account. Instruct your employee to complete the setup steps.
Under the Actions column, select the Edit pencil tool. Double-check their permissions and make sure they have access to specific location(s) that you want to grant them access to.
To grant an employee access to a specific location, select Restaurant Access in the top bar next to Jobs and Permissions.
Then, put a checkmark on specific location(s) that they need access to. This will make them an employee of the location and allow them to switch between locations from a device.
