Your credit card deposits should arrive in your bank account by the next business day if you batch your card reader before nine thirty p.m. Eastern Time. If a deposit is missing or delayed, this guide helps you find out why.
Overview of credit card deposit timing
Credit card batches submitted before 9:30 p.m. ET are processed the next business day and deposited the day after processing. Batches submitted after 9:30 p.m. ET are held until the next business day, then processed and deposited on day two.
Important: Deposits do not post on weekends or federal holidays. If a batch is submitted Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, it will be deposited the following Monday (unless Monday is a federal holiday). See Deposit schedules for a full calendar of non-business days.
Key rule: deposit timing
Your credit card deposit timing depends on three factors:
When you batch — Batch before 9:30 p.m. ET for next-business-day deposit. Batching after 9:30 p.m. ET delays the deposit by one business day.
Day of week — Friday, Saturday, or Sunday batches are held until Monday and then processed.
Bank holidays — Deposits do not post on federal holidays. See Deposit schedules overview for the full holiday calendar.
Decision tree: diagnose why your deposit is missing or delayed
Start here: You expected a credit card deposit in your bank account but it is not there.
Step 1: Check if the batch is reported in Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown
Go to Toast Web and select Reports > Payments > Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown.
Look for the batch you submitted. Answer the question below based on what you find.
If the batch is listed in Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown:
The batch was submitted successfully and will be deposited.
Check the status column. The batch should show as "Processed" or "Settled."
This means the deposit is in progress. Go to step 2.
If the batch is not listed in Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown:
The batch was not successfully submitted.
Go to step 3.
Step 2: Verify batch timing and expected deposit date
Go to Toast Web and select Reports > Payments > Processing statements to find the exact time you submitted the batch.
If you batched before 9:30 p.m. ET:
Your deposit should arrive the next business day.
If today is Monday through Thursday: expect deposit tomorrow.
If today is Friday, Saturday, or Sunday: expect deposit Monday (unless Monday is a federal holiday; see Deposit schedules overview).
Wait one to two business days from the batch time. Deposits occasionally take longer due to banking delays.
If you batched after 9:30 p.m. ET (including midnight):
Your deposit is delayed by one business day.
If you batched Friday night or anytime over the weekend: expect deposit Tuesday (or Wednesday if Monday is a federal holiday).
Wait two to three business days from batch time.
If your expected deposit date has passed:
Go to step 4.
Step 3: Resolve batch submission failure
If the batch does not appear in Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown, it was not submitted. Common causes:
You forgot to batch after closing the day.
Card reader disconnected or timed out before batch completed.
Network interruption during batch process.
To fix:
Ensure the card reader is connected and powered on.
Go to Toast Web and select Reports > Payments > Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown.
Check if a new batch now appears (it may have been submitted after the connection was restored).
If the batch still does not appear:
Submit a new batch now,
Your next deposit will include today's card transactions.
Expected outcome: A new batch will appear in Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown within fifteen minutes. The deposit will process the next business day.
Step 4: Investigate delayed deposits after expected date has passed
If you batched before 9:30 p.m. ET and the expected deposit date has passed, the deposit may be delayed due to banking processing times. Some deposits take up to five business days.
To check status:
Confirm the batch appears in Toast Web: Reports > Payments > Payout Overview
Verify the batch status shows "Processed" or "Settled"
Check your bank account for the deposit (it may have arrived without a notification)
If the batch is reported in Toast Web as "Processed" or "Settled":
The batch is in the banking system.
Wait one more business day.
If the deposit does not arrive within five business days of batch submission, go to step 5.
If the batch is NOT reported or shows a different status:
Go to step 5.
Step 5: Multiple batches or special scenarios
Some situations cause unexpected delays or missing deposits:
If you submitted multiple batches in one day:
Each batch is processed and deposited separately.
Check Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown for each batch's status.
Verify each batch shows "Processed" or "Settled."
If the expected deposit date falls on a federal holiday:
Deposits do not post on holidays.
Check Deposit schedules overview for holiday dates.
Your deposit will arrive the next business day after the holiday.
If the deposit day is a weekend:
Deposits do not post on Saturday or Sunday.
Your deposit will arrive Monday (unless Monday is a holiday).
