Question
On the New Hire Dashboard, what does I-9 past due mean?
β
Answer
In Toast Payroll, on the New Hire Dashboard via Team > Onboarding, you may see a notice under an employee's name that says I-9 past due. This means that more than three days (not business days) have passed and the Form I-9 should be addressed immediately.
If you'd like to disable this notification, you can choose not to require Form I-9s upon new hire onboarding. Navigate to Settings > New Hire > Settings and toggle the I-9 option to No.
Generally, employers must complete section 2 of the Form I-9 within 3 days of the date of hire. More information about timelines to complete the form can be found in the instructions or on the USCIS website.
