Set Up Your Toast eGift Card Shop
Your Toast eGift Card Shop is fully customizable. You can:
Create a totally unique name for your eGift Card Shop: This is especially helpful for multilocation groups that share gift cards across all of their stores looking to have a unified store name.
Upload a banner or logo image: By uploading any images or logos, you confirm you have the rights to use the image(s), and have all rights required to allow Toast and its service providers to this image as part of services provided.
Add a description: These custom areas allow you to share anything you’d like such as features, promotions you are offering, or detail anything your guests need to know about how you utilize gift cards in your location. Keep in mind, this information is guest-facing.
Add a disclaimer: This guest-facing area allows you to share any terms and conditions for your gift card program. It is your responsibility to update your guest on any relevant terms and conditions or other legal or compliance disclaimers. You can utilize this space to do that by pasting text or including a link.
Customize easy-to-select preset gift card values: You can customize these amounts and even set a default value that appears when guests visit your eGift Card Shop.
Set your limits: Customize the maximum number of cards that can be sold in a single transaction as well as the minimum and maximum purchase amounts allowed per transaction.
Notes:
Toast has a 10 card maximum limit, and a $500 per transaction limit.
US and International customers can create gift card discounts through promo codes or offers in the eGift Card shop. To learn more, see Add a Promo or Discount eGift Card Sales or Set Up and Manage “Buy X, Get Y” Gift Card Promotions.
To configure your Toast eGift Card Shop settings:
Navigate to Toast Web > Payments > Gift Cards > eGift Card Shop.
Adjust your settings to your desired preferences.
Select Save and Publish.
Add Your Toast eGift Card Shop Image
To adjust your Toast eGift Card Shop image:
In Toast Web navigate to Payments > Gift Cards > eGift card image settings.
Navigate to the Gift Card image and select +Upload image or Replace image. Note: Minimum resolution 640px by 400px and maximum file size of 5 MB.
Select Save and Publish.
Note: A full publish is required for updates to your gift card image to take effect.
Find Your eGift Card Shop Link
Once you have configured your eGift Card Shop settings as desired and published, you can share your eGift card shop link with your guests. To locate your link:
Navigate to Takeout & Delivery > Toast Order Sources > Restaurant Info.
In the right hand column, scroll down to locate your Buy eGift Cards link.
Copy this link, and share on your website, across your social media platforms, or within any marketing materials you choose.
Sell eGift Cards on POS
From the Order screen on your POS, scroll to the right of your menus until you find the Gift Cards button.
Select Sell Card.
Enter the Amount you wish to add to the card.
Select eGift Card.
Select Next.
When you sell an eGift card, you'll receive a prompt to enter the guest's email address or cell phone number. You can also designate if the message will be sent now or schedule it for future delivery (usually if the card is being given as a gift). Enter the desired recipient information, then select Next to continue.
On the next screen, your guests can choose to include their email or phone number and receive a notification when the eGift card is opened. Enter the information if desired, then select Next to continue.
Finally, you'll see the option to edit details before sending the eGift card to the intended recipient. Enter the Recipient's name, purchaser's name, and Message, if desired.
Select Done to add the eGift card to the guest's check and proceed with completing the guest's order and payment.
Note: Only US customers can deliver eGift Cards via SMS at this time.
Sell eGift Cards Online
Your guests will follow the following steps to buy an eGift card online:
Your guest will navigate to your eGift card ordering site.
They will be prompted to enter an amount, personalize the message to the recipient, and choose a delivery time. They'll have to either enter a phone number or an email address to send the eGift card to the intended recipient. A preview of the gift card will appear on the page.
At the bottom of the page, they can choose to Add Another eGift Card, or Check Out and submit their payment details.
Note: Only US customers can deliver eGift Cards via SMS at this time.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve used Toast Gift Cards for years. Why does my eGift Card Shop look different now?
We have updated the eGift Card Shop to provide a more customizable, user-friendly experience for both you and your guests. Any settings you configured for your original eGift Card Shop (ex: images, etc) will still be configured for your new shop interface and no action is required unless you prefer to update the image size, or utilize any of the new features mentioned above. Ensure you have the rights to use any images or logos uploaded.
I already have the URL for the eGift Card Shop linked on my website and social media. Do I need to change the URL to direct my guests to the new version of my eGift Card Shop?
No, you do not need to make any changes to your linked URLs. Your URL has not changed, and will not change unless you choose to update the link address in your Restaurant Info section of Toast Web. The existing link for your eGift Card Shop will automatically redirect your guests to the new interface.
Is there a purchase limit on gift cards?
By default, the gift card purchase limit is set to $500 per transaction for eGift cards to help protect your restaurant from incurring increased chargebacks and fraud. Each physical card purchased in-store has a $2000 value limit.
