Question
How do I print kitchen tickets at the time of the order, or when the order needs to be made?

Answer
With Toast, you can set up your printer to print at the time that makes the most sense for your restaurant's operations. Follow these steps to customize ticket printing for your restaurant:
In Toast Web, select Takeout & delivery > Availability > Takeout/delivery.
Scroll down to the Scheduled Orders section.
Select your desired option for the Send scheduled orders to the kitchen when created setting:
Send to the kitchen as soon as they are created. Orders will not print again - This will ensure tickets are fired to the kitchen as soon as the order is submitted, regardless of the prep or pick-up time. For example, let's say a guest orders a pizza through online ordering at 4:30 p.m., but they scheduled their pickup for 8:00 p.m. This will print at 4:30 p.m.
Send to the kitchen as soon as they are created, within a period of time. This will not affect orders created and due outside of time - This will allow you to enter a manual delay for scheduled orders to be printed after the guest's order is submitted. For example, if you enter one hour in the available field and a guest order was submitted at 4:30 p.m. with a pickup time of 8:00 p.m., the ticket will print at 5:30 p.m.
Do not send as soon as they are created - This will ensure tickets are fired to the kitchen using the item's prep time and the order pick-up time. For example, let's say a guest orders a pizza through online ordering at 4:30 p.m., but they scheduled their pickup for 8:00 p.m. If your prep time is one hour, this will print at 7:00 p.m.
