Special Requests Reporting Overview

In Toast, an employee has the ability to add special instructions (or notes) called Special Requests to an item. These notes can be used as instructions for the kitchen, allergy notifications, or as specific modifiers that might not yet exist in the menu. Learn more about how to add Special Requests in this Support Center article: Add Special Requests.

View Special Requests in the Product Mix (PMIX) Report

You can look at Special Requests reports via the Menu report:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Reports > Menus > Product mix.

  2. Select your desired date range using the calendar drop-down at the top of the page.

  3. Above the Product Mix table, select the Menu hierarchy drop-down (located next to the search box) and ensure Special requests is checked.

  4. Apply any additional filters (such as Sales Category or Order Source) if needed by selecting More filters to open the extended panel on the right side of the screen.

After the report populates, you'll be able to see the name of the special request, the parent item, the menu group, the number of times it was used, and the net amount the customer was charged for that particular special request.

If you select the arrow (>) next to the special request name, you'll be able to see more detailed information on each special request.

To export this report, select the download icon (down arrow) in the top-right corner.
