Australia and New Zealand will not be affected by the significant updates to the TOEFL iBT® test which are being made after January 21, 2026 that include a new 1–6 score scale and adaptive testing capabilities. These updates impact how score data is structured and delivered, including through our technical integrations to the majority our global institutions.
Australia and New Zealand: No Changes
For institutions based in Australia and New Zealand, the TOEFL iBT® test remains unchanged. You can continue to use TOEFL scores as you currently do.
What stays the same?
Here is short list of what remains the same:
Test format and content
Scoring methodology
ScoreLink Layout
PGP Layout
To be clear, institutions based in Australia and New Zealand can continue using the existing ScoreLink Layout or PGP Layout to get TOEFL scores.
What requires an update?
If you’re in Australia and New Zealand, you still must update your Integration URL and the API Key (authcode). We will continue to support the existing Integration URL for some time; however, we strongly recommend performing this one-time update soon to ensure a smooth transition.
See the Managing Integrations collection for articles that apply to your institution.
