Trading Combine® Parameters

The Trading Combine has one rule and a few objectives standing between you and your Express Funded Account. Here's what you need to know to pass and what happens next.

As you probably know, becoming a successful intraday trader who consistently takes capital out of the market is no small task. Losing $1,000+ in intraday trading is a real thing that happens every day to traders. Our mission is to provide a safe experience so that traders can professionalize their passion. The Trading Combine® was designed to limit your personal risk.

The Trading Combine has one single rule and several objectives. Keep reading for more information on the rule and objectives, and some helpful resources as you get started.

If you meet these parameters and achieve the Profit Target for your account size, you'll progress to the Express Funded Account. Additionally, it's essential to understand the Maximum Position Size and Permitted Products and Trading Hours.

Trading Combine FAQs

Can I have more than one Trading Combine?

Yes, you can have more than one active Trading Combine at a time. There is no limit to how many active Trading Combines you can have at any given time.

If you do have multiple Trading Combines, make sure to double-check which account you're trading on before you begin trading. Topstep isn't responsible for any trades made on the wrong account.

While there is no limit to the number of Trading Combines you can have, there are limits to the number you can purchase each month. You can learn more here.

Single Account Policy

Traders are not permitted to have multiple Topstep profiles, and the existence of multiple Topstep profiles for a single user is a violation of our Terms of Use that can potentially result in negative actions such as:

  • Topstep profiles or Trading Combines being closed without warning

  • A temporary or permanent suspension of your accounts

All Trading Combines, Express Funded Accounts, and Live Funded Accounts must be opened using a single Topstep profile. Do not create a new Topstep profile when purchasing additional Trading Combines.

  • If you've opened an additional Trading Combine under a separate Topstep profile or opened more than one Topstep profile, please contact our Trader Support Team.

Do I need to purchase data?


Level 1 (Top of Book) live real-time data is included in your Topstep® membership at no additional cost in the Trading Combine and Express Funded Account. Level 1 Data is sufficient for chart traders, and anyone trading from a DOM or Ladder can upgrade to Level 2 (Depth of Market) data.

What happens after I pass the Trading Combine?

Trade reports are updated in real time, so you can pass your Trading Combine and activate it immediately! You'll receive an email and be able to activate your new Express Funded Account right from your dashboard. Please note: it may take up to 30 minutes for your Trading Combine status to reflect that you’ve passed in the dashboard. You can learn more here.

Important:

  • Once you've been notified that you passed the Trading Combine, it's time to begin the Express Funded Account activation process. Click here for step-by-step instructions on activating your Express Funded Account. The entire process only takes a few minutes!

  • If you pass your Trading Combine on a Friday after market close, you can pay the Activation Fee immediately, but your new Funded Account will not be available to trade until the markets reopen at 5 PM CT on Sunday.

  • Profits made in the Trading Combine DO NOT transfer to the Express Funded Account.

When will I receive my Funded Trader Certificate?


You'll be able to access your Funded Trader Certificate right from your Topstep Dashboard, right from the Achievements tab!

Can I change my account size?


If the Trading Combine purchase was made within the last 72 hours and there has been no trading activity, we can usually assist with switching account size. Please contact our support team, and we'll do our best to facilitate the switch.

If you have already traded on the account, we cannot accommodate a switch. We recommend canceling the original Trading Combine before your next monthly subscription charge and purchasing a new one with the desired account size.

Can automated trade strategies be used in the Trading Combine?

Yes, automated strategies are permitted, with a few things to note:

  • Topstep cannot help set up or troubleshoot automated strategies and will not make exceptions for errant trades or malfunctions.

  • Before getting started, we recommend testing on your Practice Account and reviewing our Prohibited Conduct and Do's and Don'ts of SIM Fills articles.
