What is a sharing station?
A sharing station is a secondary device used to solely display the in-app gallery. This usually creates a station dedicated for guests to share their files. A sharing station would free up space on the recording device to keep recording, while the gallery is always accessible from a secondary device for guests to freely use it.
This method is available on Android (Only Scanpix and Online Sync), iOS and macOS, and you may set up as many sharing stations as you want. It is possible to connect an Android recording device and iOS sharing station and vice versa only by using 'Online Sync' method.
Online Sync (recommended)
Online sync method is the most popular and reliable, which creates a faster transfer between devices.
To achieve this connection, the main device will upload the files to the web gallery as usual once they're processed. By the time they upload, the sharing station set up in this mode, will scan the web gallery and will download all new files through the internet. Due to this, a strong and stable connection is required.
Open the Touchpix app on your sharing station.
Tap on 'Scan event QR code' followed by 'Sharing Station' and then 'Online Sync'
Scan the QR code of the event.
Open the in-app gallery and tap the top-right icon with a gear
Tap on 'enable download from cloud'
All files uploaded to the web gallery will start downloading to your sharing station.
Sender/Receiver (Bluetooth Method)
Uses Bluetooth to transfer files between devices. It does not require an internet connection, but the transfer speeds are very slow (~0.2 MB/s). It doesn't require either for the files to be in the web gallery.
Open the Touchpix app on both devices.
On the Sharing Station, tap on 'Activate Event' followed by 'Sharing Station'.
Tap on 'Receiver'
Now, on the recording device, tap on the ‘Gallery’ button in the upper-right corner of the recording device. If you do not see it, go to your event settings, on Touchpix.com, and activate the in-app gallery.
Press the three dots button in the upper-right corner.
Press the ‘Activate Sender’ button, followed by tapping the name of the sharing station you wish to transfer data to.
Files will start to transfer.
Keynotes and troubleshooting
Make sure to be running the latest app version on both devices, and the latest iOS version.
Check in your device settings if all permissions are granted on both devices, specially Bluetooth access.
Make sure that no other Bluetooth devices that may be interfering are connected.
Large files will need several minutes to transfer. Do not panic if files are not transferring immediately, Bluetooth method is slower, and Online Sync depends on the network speed.
The recording device MUST be connected to the internet to upload the files to the web gallery after each session (online sync method).
A wireless connection such as the wireless GoPro, Printpix or DSLR hinder the Online Sync function.
