What score should be entered if someone does not finish a hole?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: We had a player who picked up on a hole and did not finish. What should I enter on the score entry page?

A: When a player does not finish a hole that is started, you should always refer to the applicable "Rules of Handicapping" set forth by your Authorized Association.

In Golf Genius, when entering scores, you have two options to proceed when a player does not finish a hole:

Option #1: Enter "X" + Most Likely Scores:

The first option is to enter "X" + the most likely score, in accordance with the "Rules of Handicapping," if the player do not complete the hole (as shown below).

In the example above, the scores of "X7" & "X8" have been entered, assuming the most likely scores would have been 7 and 8.

When entering X+the most likely score:

  • Stroke Play leaderboard will count as a missing hole and the scorecard will be marked as "DNF".

  • Match Play leaderboards will count as a missing hole and loss of hole.

  • Stableford and Quota leaderboards will count as the worst possible score.

  • Score will be posted as the most likely score with the max of a net double bogey.

Option #2: Enter "X":

The second option is to enter "X" (as shown below).

When entering X:

  • Stroke Play leaderboard will count as a missing hole and the scorecard will be marked as "DNF".

  • Match Play leaderboards will count as a missing hole and loss of hole.

  • Stableford and Quota leaderboards will count as the worst possible score.

  • Score will be posted as net double bogey.
