System 36 is a same-day handicapping system that is similar to Callaway 15, Callaway 16 and Peoria.
Here is how System 36 works. Each golfer starts at 0 Playing Handicap. For each shot, the following operation is done:
Gross double bogey or worse - add 2 points to golfer Playing Handicap
Gross bogey - add 1 point to golfer Playing Handicap
The resulting value is a number, between 0 and 36, which represents the golfer Playing Handicap for the day. The Playing Handicaps are treated as regular Playing Handicaps, we stroke the card and calculate the final result (stableford points, low net, etc.).
When setting the tournament up, we create the tournament as usual and select System 36 under handicapping options. This will cause the same-day handicapping to occur and will calculate Playing Handicaps per the algorithm above.
The leaderboard is identical to before, but the Playing Handicaps are calculated on the fly.
In the example above, Diane ends up with a 15 Course Handicap. The red notes indicate where the strokes were compiled.
When multiple tees are played, the appropriate rules will apply. Click Here for details on multiple tees with different pars.
Note 1: It is not suggested to use System 36 for a Match Play tournament, as it will impact the results after the match is completed. If you do use System 36 Handicapping for Match Play, ensure all matches play all 18 holes. Further, inform players that the tournament results are not final until the round has been set to completed and the System 36 Handicap has been processed.
βNote 2: It is not suggested to use System 36 for scramble tournaments because there will be very few scores that are over par.
