Some rounds are started using a shotgun start where all the pairing groups start play simultaneously, but on different holes. In this article, we will discuss how to set up shotgun start rounds.
Setting Shotgun Start:
If you have not done already, create your pairings. For more details about creating pairings, Click Here. Once your pairings are created, to set a shotgun start for a round, follow these instructions:
Go to Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings.
Click on "Set Shotgun."
Click "Select All."
Enter the starting time of the shotgun start.
Select the starting hole of the first pairing group. Below that, each hole will be listed likely with a 0, 1, or 2. These numbers show how many pairing groups will start on each hole. If you want to change holes that are being doubled up, you can change them here. As you adjust these numbers, holes/pairing group count is displayed in red, not enough pairings groups, or green, sufficient number of pairing groups.
Once the Holes/Pairing Group count matches up, and you are happy with where pairing groups are assigned, click "Apply."
Click "Save Pairings" to finalize the shotgun hole assignments.
The sequence below shows the process of setting a shotgun start for the round. You may notice some groups are assigned an "A" or "B" group assignment in this sequence. These group assignments are provided when two groups are starting on the same hole.
Notes:
You can also set a shotgun priority for your course so that your preferred "double up" holes are always assigned two groups first. Click Here for details on setting a shotgun priority.
You can also set up a reverse shotgun by clicking "Reverse Shotgun." When doing so, the first pairing group will start on hole # 1, 2nd pairing group on #18, 3rd pairing group on #17, and so on.
Setting a Modified Shotgun Start:
In some cases, rounds may use a modified shotgun start where half the pairing groups will start at one time, and the other half of pairing groups will start at a later time.
To set up this type of start, follow these instructions:
Go to Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings.
Click on "Set Shotgun."
Select the set of pairing groups that will start first (they will highlight).
Enter their starting time and starting hole.
Click "Go."
Repeat the previous three steps for the next set of pairing groups that will start later.
The first six pairing groups are selected and assigned a 12:00 PM shotgun start in the sequence below. The remaining pairing groups are selected and assigned a delayed 12:30 PM start.

Manually Entering/Editing Starting Holes Assignment:
In the event you would like to manually enter the starting holes or make small adjustments to the existing shotgun start assignments, this can be done simply by changing the time or group assignments by editing the pairings.
To manually enter the starting holes or edit the existing assignments, follow these instructions:
Go to Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings.
Click on "Set Shotgun."
Select the hole assignment or tee order for the pairing group that needs to be adjusted.
Enter their starting hole and tee order if necessary.
Repeat the previous three steps for any additional pairing groups that need to be adjusted.
Click "Save Pairings."
In the sequence below, we have two holes doubled up. For this event, we are spreading the group to have only a double up on a few holes.
