When using shotgun starts, golf courses generally have certain holes that are better to start two pairing groups on if necessary. There also may be holes to avoid. You can prioritize the starting holes in the Course Details of your course.
In this article, we will discuss how to set up the shotgun priority for a course.
Setting up a Shotgun Priority:
To set up a shotgun priority for your course, follow these instructions:
Go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Course Details.
Edit your course.
Select "Shotgun Priority".
Enter the priority order of your "doubled up" holes (as shown below). If you leave a hole blank, then no pairing group will be assigned to that hole.
βSave the changes to your course.
The shotgun priority will then be set.
Applying a Shotgun Priority to your Pairings:
When setting the shotgun in edit pairings for a round with more than 18 pairing groups, the priority will already be set. If you look below, when clicking "Select All", the holes that are doubled up will be listed with a 2. You can override your priority for that round by entering new values. Always make sure the Foursome count matches before clicking "Go". You will see the foursome count on the bottom right.
If you have less than 18 pairing groups, then the pairing groups will first be assigned to holes with the highest priority. For instance, if you have 16 foursomes in the pairings, the two holes that are listed as the #17 and #18 priority hole will not have a pairing group. If you'd rather not have the foursomes spread out on the course and keep them ordered together on the course, select "reverse shotgun".
