One skin can make a player's entire round a success. Of course, the beauty of skins is every player that has a chance to get one. All it takes is one good hole.
There are many variations of skins tournaments. In many cases, skins tournaments are individual competitions. However, team skins tournaments can also be easily created. Skins can also be played over a single round or multiple rounds. There are also unique skins games like Silk Skins and Canadian Skins.
There also may be cases where some players in the field are excluded from the skins tournament. In this case, you will need to set up an optional skins tournament.
(Note: Skins cannot be set up and scored correctly if using Course Rotations.)
Setting up a Single Round Skins Tournament:
To set up a skins' tournament for a single round, go to Rounds > Tournaments > New Tournament (as shown below).
There are a few additional options that are available in the setup menu above.
Skins with Carry: Say for instance you selected carryover skins and there was no skin won on holes 1, 2, and 3. Bob won a skin on hole 4. Therefore, holes 1, 2, and 3 carryover and Bob claims the skins on those holes as well.
To win Skin, score must be: Look at the setup above. In this example, to win a skin, the score must be a birdie or better. If Bob is the only player to make a par on a hole (and no one scores lower), he does not win a skin. Only a birdie or better wins.
Skin must be validated by: Requiring a skin to be validated is another wrinkle you can add to your skins setup. In order to validate a skin, a player must have a minimum score on the hole following a skin. Say for instance you require a par or better to validate a skin. Bob is the only player in the field to birdie hole #3. In this validation example, he hasn't quite won a skin. He needs to score at least a par on the following hole (Hole #4) to validate his skin. If he bogeys #4, his skin is null and void. Keep in mind this option is not available if you are scoring multiple balls, selecting certain holes, or selecting certain pars.
After selecting the parameters for the skins tournament, you can then enter the points and purse for the skins tournament (as shown below).

Setting up a Multi-Round Skins Tournament:
To set up a multi-round skins tournament, go to Event/League > Multi-Round Tournaments > Add New Multi-Round Tournament. Select the rounds to include the skins tournament (as shown below).
Select one of the following formats:
Basic Skins: This format will treat each round separately when determining skins. If John is the only player to get an eagle on hole #1 on Round 1, it does not matter if someone else eagles hole #1 on Round 2. He has already earned his skin from Round 1. When the skins tournament is complete for all rounds, the overall payout is distributed to the skins won in all the rounds.
Aggregate Skins: This format will use the scores from all the rounds to determine if there are skins on any of the holes. Say for instance John scored an eagle on hole #1 in the first round. If another player scores an eagle on hole #1 on the second round, John's skin will be cancelled. This format is often played in Member-Guest Invitationals. For more details, Click Here.
After selecting the format, the options discussed earlier in this article (in the "Setting Up a Single Round Skins Tournament" section), will also be available.
