Team Matches (Team Cups)

This feature is available for the following product:

Most golf associations manage team cup matches where teams created from different clubs compete against each other in round-robin matches or bracket tournaments. There are many different variations of this type of competition. In most cases, there are different cups (sections) that comprise a small set of teams organized regionally (to minimize travel). There are many different variations of point systems, tournament formats, and playoff systems used. Furthermore, sometimes there are divisions that separate all of the different cups (sections).

There are two different versions of this feature:

  • Simple Team Matches: This version is automatically enabled for all Golf Genius TM Association users. The teams are organized into a single level of sections.

  • Advanced Team Matches: In this version, teams have a multi-level organization. For instance, there may be multiple divisions. Within each division, there are multiple sections (cups). Within each section, there are multiple teams. Note: To enable this version, contact support.

Additionally, there are two different Team Match formats that can be played:

  • Round Robin: Teams play head-to-head matches with other teams in their section using a Round Robin schedule (every team plays every other team in the section an equal amount of times).

  • Brackets: Teams play head-to-head matches using a single elimination playoff bracket to determine an overall winner. In many cases, this format is used as a playoff system for a previous Round Robin Team Match.

In this article, we will guide you through setting up and managing team cup matches using both formats, providing links to relevant articles for your reference.
