Team Wheels

Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is available for the following products:

Team Wheels is a competition where there are multiple combinations of teams within a foursome. There are two types of Wheels: Full Wheels, and Member-Guest Wheels.

  1. Full Wheels: Teams are created based on pairings, 6 teams per foursome. (1&2, 1&3, 1&4, 2&3, 2&4, 3&4)

  2. Member-Guest Wheels: A member brings one, two, or three guests and a team is created for every combination of member and guest. For instance, if a foursome is used where there is a member and three guests, there will be 3 total teams (1&2, 1&3, 1&4). Click Here for a guide on this type of event.

This competition can be set up as a single round tournament or multi-round tournament. If set up as a multi-round tournament, make sure the foursomes and order within the foursomes are consistent for each round.

To set up this competition, go to create the tournament and you will see the wheels options in the "Competition" dropdown menu (as shown below).

Keep in mind that these competitions can only be used when playing non-match play formats like stroke play and stableford. After selecting the wheels competition, the following Ball options will be available (as shown below).

Once the tournament is set up, the leaderboard will display all of the combination of pairs as a team on the leaderboard (as shown below).

When printing scorecards for a wheels competition, you will likely want to print one scorecard per pair because there simply isn't enough room on a scorecard to add all the combinations of pairs.

To do this, go to the Format tab when creating the scorecard and select "Show both players and pairs" and "One pair per scorecard". A scorecard for each pair (team) will then be printed (as shown below).

Remember that in some cases, you actually do not have to create team lists when setting up a wheels competition. However, there are a few cases where creating teams might be necessary.

  1. In a Member-Guest Wheels competition where some members bring one guest and some members bring 2 or 3 guests. Before creating the teams, the members with only one guest should be listed in the pairings alone as a twosome (temporarily). After teams are created, they can be combined with other twosomes.

  2. If you are awarding points to the teams and these points need to be rolled up over multiple rounds.

  3. If the wheels competition is played in a league every week and subs are often used.

To create teams, first create pairings for the first round organized by the wheel teams. Then, go to Golfers > Event Divisions, Flights, and Teams > Manage Team Lists > Add New Team List . Then select to automatically create teams using pairings and select the 1st round pairings. You will then see the options on what type of wheel teams you'd like to create (as shown below).

Once teams are created, you can go set up the wheels tournament. Make sure to select the team list, "tee sheet may or may not physically be organized by team", and team(all) v. field (as shown below).
