Troubleshooting

TIP: ‘SR’ scanner variations are typically cheaper to purchase and can handle product barcodes and some driver's licenses. On the other hand, ‘DL’ scanner variations are typically more expensive to purchase and can handle product barcodes and many more variations of driver's licenses — including newer encrypted state IDs.

TIP: When scanning the back of a driver’s license, cover up the traditional 1D barcode at the top of (some) licenses for optimal read performance.

DS2278

  • It helps to 'forget' the DS2278 from your list of Bluetooth devices in Settings before trying to reconnect

  • Hearing 4 beeps? A 4 beep response means there is an issue transmitting the barcode. Follow the suggestions below to troubleshoot this issue.

    • If a barcode is not scanning and your device instead beeps 4 times, troubleshoot by placing the scanner in its cradle and try scanning again. If that works, try and eliminate any sources of radio interference in the area for reliable operation.

    • Verify that the 2D barcodes are readable and do not contain major or many scratches. To test, try scanning with a different ID.

    • Cover up the traditional 1D barcode at the top of (some) licenses for optimal read performance.

  • If the scanner is opening the downloads folder when scanning an ID, uninstalling and then reinstalling Chrome should alleviate the issue.
