Optional Add-Ons let you offer additional activities, services, or experiences that travelers can choose to purchase separately from the core trip package. Unlike required itinerary components, Optional Add-Ons aren't automatically included in the trip total - travelers review the available add-ons during booking and decide whether to opt in.
Examples include excursions and tours, premium dining experiences, spa packages, additional activities, VIP experiences, and transportation upgrades.
Note: Optional Add-Ons are currently available for Group Trips. Support for Regular Trips will be added in a future release, and some functionality may differ when introduced.
Configure an Optional Add-On
Open a Trip Component
Open a Group Trip.

Configure Availability
You can optionally limit availability by:
Available Seats - The maximum number of spots available (for example, 20 seats).
Available Until Date - The last date travelers can select the add-on (for example, until June 30, 2026).
Both - Use the two settings together (for example, 20 seats, available until June 30, 2026).
If no limits are configured, the add-on remains available until it's manually removed or the trip closes.
Save and Publish
Save the component, then publish the proposal or landing page. The Optional Add-On becomes available to travelers.

The Traveler Experience
View Available Add-Ons
When travelers open the landing page and move through the booking flow, selections appear in order: room and cabin selections first, then Inline Options, then Optional Add-Ons. Optional Add-Ons are displayed in dedicated cards, separate from the main itinerary.

View Add-Ons in the Itinerary
Optional Add-Ons also appear within the itinerary, each marked with an Optional Add-On tag so travelers can distinguish optional items from included itinerary components.

Select Add-Ons During Signup
During signup, travelers select room or cabin preferences, choose any Inline Options, and review Optional Add-Ons - all as part of the booking flow.
Travelers can click View Details to open a side panel showing the add-on's description, images, attachments, pricing, and availability information.

Fixed-Price vs. Per-Person Add-Ons
How travelers select an add-on depends on its pricing:
Fixed price - Travelers simply opt in or out; no quantity selection is required. For example, a Private Airport Transfer at a $100 flat fee.
Per person - Travelers specify the number of travelers participating, and a quantity field appears automatically. For example, a Snorkeling Excursion at $75 per traveler.
Save or Skip Selections
Travelers have two options:
Make Selections - Select preferred add-ons and click Continue. Selections are saved immediately.
Choose Later - Continue through signup without saving add-on selections. Add-ons can be selected later if availability remains.
Complete Signup
After signup, a Subtrip is created, the traveler gains access to their itinerary, and a banner reminds them to complete payment authorization - for example: "Your trip has been created successfully. To save your spot, please authorize the required deposit amount as soon as possible."

View Add-On Selections
When a traveler completes signup, a Subtrip is created and you receive a notification. Open the Subtrip to view the traveler's selections, their Optional Add-On choices, and authorization status.
Add an Add-On on Behalf of a Traveler
If a traveler requests an add-on later - by phone, email, or another offline channel:
Open the Optional Add-On component.
Navigate to Pricing & Booking.
Click Add for Travelers.
Select the travelers and confirm the assignment.
The selected travelers are added to the Optional Add-On.

Reset a Traveler Selection
If a traveler changes their mind, open the Optional Add-On component, locate the selection summary, and click Reset Selection. After you confirm, the traveler assignments are removed and the add-on returns to an unselected state, where it can be selected again later.

Optional Add-Ons After Proposal Approval
Optional Add-Ons remain available even after the proposal is approved and becomes an itinerary.
Selected add-ons remain attached to the traveler, appear in bookings, can appear on invoices, and can be included in payments.
Unselected add-ons remain optional, continue displaying availability information, and can still be selected later if available.
Bookings and Invoices
Bookings
Optional Add-Ons appear in Bookings with an Optional tag. If not selected, they remain informational only - shown as a rate rather than a billable price. If selected, they become active traveler items.
Invoices
Unselected add-ons do not contribute to the trip total and do not appear as invoice line items.
Selected add-ons are included in invoices, contribute to the trip total, and appear as standard line items.
Best Practices
Use Optional Add-Ons for experiences travelers may want but don't require.
Clearly describe what's included.
Set availability limits when inventory is restricted.
Use per-person pricing when traveler counts affect costs.
Review selections before generating final invoices.
Leave optional items available after approval when late opt-ins are allowed.
Conclusion
Optional Add-Ons let you offer additional experiences without increasing the base trip price. Travelers can review, select, or skip add-ons throughout the booking process, while you maintain full control over availability, traveler assignments, invoicing, and trip management.
