Step 1: When the return is complete, go to the Active Projects page > select "Send Returns"
Step 2: Click on Upload PDF
Step 3: Click to browse for the return or drag and drop
A. If your return is printed in multiple files for federal and state, you will need to toggle the button before uploading or drag/drop
After uploading, you will automatically see a screen indicating it is extracting tasks
Step 4: The next screen will automatically load, you will name your project or click the field "project name" to see a drop-down of projects it can be added to.
Note: If there is already an open project for the current tax year best practice is to continue to use the existing project
Step 5: Click the Next button (it will turn green when ready)
Step 6: Choose/enter recipients.
Note: If selecting an existing project, it will automatically add the contacts from the project
Step 7: Click Next (it will turn green when ready)
Step 8: Review tasks. These are automatically generated based on the transmittal letter. You can click the page numbers on the task to view the page in the preview pane.
Note: If you're using Truss for payment processing, Truss will automatically create a Task for payment with a secure payment link for each client.
Step 9: After reviewing the tasks, click Create project
Step 10: Click Edit E-signature fields to review/place signatures on the e-sign documents
Step 11: Click the name to toggle between contacts to place signatures
A. Select different fields to place them
B. scroll down to view all signature pages
Note: Federal fields should place automatically. We are working to update the system to have all state fields placed automatically for TY 2025
Step 12: Click Save
Step 13: Review email recipients
Step 14: Review the email message template
Step 15: Click Send- This delivers the email to the client

Step 16: Click New to add additional tasks to the project ie. Engagement letter
Step 17: Send an update email to the client if needed
