There are several different ways to edit the length of a video - for example in the Template Editor.

Another quick and easy way to trim videos is by using the AI Highlights tool in the Asset Library. This method relies on you having added your video to the Asset Library which you can do within video generation, by using the 'Add to assets' button in the top right corner of the video generation screen.

It will prompt you to, optionally, choose a folder in which to put your video.

Now, if you go to the Asset Library you will see 'AI Highlights' in the top right hand corner of the screen:

Finding the clip

Fundamentally, AI Highlights is a tool for helping you locate relevant video clips from across your Asset Library, leaning on the prompting framework with which you'll likely be familiar.

Upon clicking on AI Highlights, you will find two prompting boxes - a positive prompt and a negative prompt. In the positive prompt box you will want to put the things that you are looking for and that you want to find. In the negative prompt you can enter things that you don't want in your search results - for example you might not want humans in your video results.

You can then set min and max durations to further hone your search. Once you hit Apply you will be presented with videos that match your prompts and criteria.

Here I am simply searching for video clips that relate to a 'Drone at sunset in a modern city' and that yields several results, although only one with Relevance = Good and it's the video I will use.

Trimming the clip

Selecting the video gives you some basic duration editing functionality.

You can zoom in to view the clip at a frame by frame level and I can drag the blue 'handles' at the start and end of the clip to trim it.

Saving the clip

To the right of your clip, you need to name your trimmed highlight in order to save it as an asset in its own right:

Why use AI highlights to trim videos and create highlights?

Using AI Highlights to trim videos is efficient for a number of reasons:

  • The prompting framework and duration selection helps you find relevant video clips quickly and easily.

  • Trimming is straightforward and trimmed highlights can easily be saved directly into your Asset Library.

  • Everything is done within the Asset Library, allowing you to move onto your next targets rapidly.
