How Do I Add References to My Marketplace Application?

Here is a guide to request references from your contacts, which is a requirement to join the Turno Marketplace as a cleaner

Receiving references from current or past customers is a mandatory step to be eligible to join the Turno Marketplace. In this article, you'll learn how to request references, how your contacts submit them, and how to send reminders for them to fill the reference form, if needed. 💡

Requesting references from your contacts 🤞🏼

The process of requesting references from your contacts begins with accessing your Turno account.

In the mobile app:

Go to the "Marketplace" screen in the app.

The next page will show the four application steps: Cleaning Experience, Service Area, Profile, and Work References.

After completing the first three steps, you'll be able to request references. Tap on "Work References" and follow the instructions.

In the web app:

Click the menu button on the top left of the screen and select 'Find New Customers'. The next page will show the four application steps: Cleaning Experience, Service Area, Profile, and Work References.

After completing the first three steps, you'll be able to request references. Click on the 'Next' button beside it to start.

You will see a screen where you can choose to send requests to your work contacts via email or phone (SMS). After you add their contact information, click "Request References" to save and send the requests.

📑 Note: If you submit a reference's phone number, please note they will merely receive the reference form link via SMS. We do not call your references.

❗ At least one of your references must respond before your application is sent to review. We may ask you to add more references depending on how your contacts comment on your work. To ensure a speedy process, add as many contacts as you can and have them respond to your reference request as soon as possible.


✍🏼 How can my contacts submit references for me?

Your contacts will receive an email or SMS with the link to a reference form. This is essentially a web page they must use to write a review for you, telling us what it is like to work with you.


Below is an example of what the reference form looks like:


Your references are required to inform two things:

  1. If they are a vacation rental host

  2. If they currently work with you

They will also enter a rating for you of 1 to 5.

Lastly, they should write a review about your cleaning services with a minimum of 100 characters and a maximum of 1000 characters.

Once all of this is successfully filled out, they must click 'Submit References' to send their review.

If your contacts encounter issues saving a reference, it may be because they've exceeded the character limit or didn't meet the minimum.

Alternatively, make sure they're writing the review using Google Chrome, which is a browser that fully supports the Turno website. 📌

My contact hasn't replied yet, what do I do? 💭

Waiting on those references? No worries! Instead of re-entering their info, you can easily send them a quick reminder.

To remind a contact to leave a reference for you, access the "Find New Customers" page (or the Marketplace screen in the app) and click "Add More References".

You'll see a list of the contacts you've already submitted on the top. To send a reminder to one of them, click on the icon with two circular arrows (🔄) next to the pending reference request.

We'll then re-send them the form. To make things even smoother, consider informing your contacts that you’ve requested references through Turno, so they can recognize the message and complete it promptly.
