DO ✅

DON'T ❌

✔️ Follow the Typsy 3-stage formula for your lesson

Ⅹ Use abbreviations or jargon without explaining what they mean

✔️ Remember Typsy has a global audience. Ensure your content will resonate with and be relevant to people across the globe

Ⅹ Narrow your audience by only referencing one type of hospitality venue (e.g. always talking about 'restaurants' or 'bars'). Your audience will work in many types of operation, so use the word 'venue'.

✔️ Reference the source of any statistics you quote

✔️ Be clear on who your lesson is intended for - are they a beginner or more advanced level audience?

✔️ If your content is for a beginner, remember that your audience might be new to your topic, so assume they don't know even the most basic things

✔️ Be detailed and if you're demonstrating something, remember to verbalize everything that you're doing

✔️ Practice speaking your content out loud so that you know how long your lesson is

✔️ Plan to show, not just tell, wherever you can

✔️ Share examples, fun facts, anecdotes, stories or jokes

✔️ Keep it light (if the topic allows)

✔️ Make it personal - talk to the learner as though they are next to you and you are training them one-on-one

✔️ Always explain 'why' something is important - don't just tell the audience that it is
