Sell Price Tiers

Automate customer-specific pricing with tiered sell prices - set it once, price it right every time.

Written by Heather

The Sell Price Tiers function allows you to specify different sell prices per product for different kinds of customers, such as Retail, Wholesale, Distributor, or currency-based tiers like USD, EUR, GBP. This feature automates the prices that populate when creating Sales Orders, based on each customer's selected Sell Price Tier.

The system works by setting a unit price per Sell Price Tier in each product's record and allocating a Sell Price Tier to each customer. When creating a Sales Order, the Unit Price that populates for a product will be based on the Customer's selected Sell Price Tier.

Sell Price Tiers

Sell Price Tier names

By default, each tier uses the naming format "Sell Price Tier 1", "Sell Price Tier 2", up to "Sell Price Tier 10". You can customize the name of each Sell Price Tier, and this name will be displayed in product and customer records, making it easier and more accurate to manage product prices by tier.

To update the name of a Sell Price Tier:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System Settings > Sell Price Tiers.

  2. Provide a unique name in the appropriate tier's "Name" field.

  3. Click Save.

When saved, the system will update immediately to display the new name.

📌 Note: Custom Sell Price Tier names are not supported by the Import Products template. Each Sell Price Tier will default to its original naming format, e.g., "Sell Price Tier 1".

Using Sell Price Tiers

To implement Sell Price Tiers effectively, you'll need to complete two key steps: configure the tier prices for your products and assign the appropriate tier to each customer. This two-part process ensures that when a Sales Order is created, the system automatically applies the correct pricing based on the customer's tier assignment.

Key points to note

Before configuring your Sell Price Tiers, note the following essential points:

  • You can only use a maximum of 10 Sell Price Tiers.

  • Sell Price Tier prices are not currency-specific and will populate as entered in the product's record, regardless of the customer's currency.

  • A customer's selected Sell Price Tier price will take precedence over the product's Default Sell Price.

  • Always test changes in a sandbox environment before applying them to live data.

  • Use CSV templates provided by Unleashed to ensure proper formatting.

  • Regularly review and update price tiers to keep them aligned with your pricing strategy.

Bulk update Sell Price Tier pricing

Each product's Sell Price Tier prices can be managed either individually in a product's record or in bulk using the Import Products template or the Markup Price Update.

Update Sell Prices with exact values

To update default sell prices and sell price tiers in bulk by setting exact values, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Products > Import/Export.

  2. Click the 'Export' drop-down button, and select 'Products' to download your current product data.

  3. For the products you want to update, edit the Default Sell Price and any Sell Price Tier columns by entering the new price values directly (not percentages). Only modify or delete data you intend to update.

  4. Save the updated CSV file and upload it back to the same Import/Export page to apply the changes in bulk.

🤓 Tip: Test your first upload in a sandbox environment to verify the changes before updating live data.

Applying Percentage Discounts

Sell Price Tier – Markup (%)

  1. Go to Inventory > Products > Markup Price Update.

  2. Filter the products and select the price tiers to update.

  3. Enter the desired markup percentage and click Update. The system recalculates tier sell prices as: Base Price × (1 + Markup%/100). The base price can be Average Landed Cost, Last Cost, Default Purchase Price, or Default Sell Price.

  4. Alternatively, use the CSV import option by downloading the template, filling in the Product Code, Price Tier, Markup %, and Markup From, and uploading it back to apply the changes.

Product Pricing – Quantity Discounts (%)

  1. Go to Inventory > Products > Import/Export > Product Pricing tab.

  2. Click the 'Export' drop-down button, and select 'Product Pricing' to download your current product price data.

  3. For each product set the following:

    • Price Type = Discount %

    • Price/Discount = Desired percentage

    • Discount From Type = Default Sell Price or Customer Price Tier

  4. Delete existing product pricing before re-importing to avoid conflicts.

Customer Pricing – Special Discounts (%)

  1. Navigate to Customers > Import/Export > Customer Pricing tab.

  2. Click the 'Export' drop-down button, and select 'Customer Pricing' to download your current product price data.

  3. For each product, per customer, set:

    • Price Type = Discount %

    • Enter the discount value

  4. Delete existing customer pricing before re-importing.

Performing Bulk Percentage Price Increases by Product Group

To perform a bulk percentage price increase by Product Group using tiers:

  1. Ensure the products have a Sell Price Tier to update, e.g., copy the Default Sell Price into Tier 1 if needed.

  2. Go to Inventory > Products > Markup Price Update and export the selection for your Product Group.

  3. In the exported CSV, enter the percentage in the Markup % column, e.g., 9 for a 9% increase.

  4. When importing, set Markup From to DefaultSellPrice to calculate the markup from your baseline.

  5. After the import completes, go to the Markup Prices tab, select the Product Group, choose the target Sell Price Tier, and click Update to apply the changes.

Update individual products by a Markup percentage

To set or update an individual product's Sell Price Tier price:

  1. Open the Product's record.

  2. Click on the Sale tab and navigate to the Sell Price Tier tab.

  3. Enter a price for each Sell Price Tier as required.

  4. Click Save.

When a product's Sell Price Tier price is updated, the new price will only apply to new Sales Orders. Existing Sales Orders will retain their original pricing.

Assign Sell Price Tiers to customers

Allocate a Sell Price Tier to a customer, and any Sales Order subsequently created will populate the selected Sell Price Tier's price per ordered product. Sell Price Tiers can be allocated to customers either individually or using the Import Customers template.

To allocate a Sell Price Tier to a Customer:

  1. Open the customer's record.

  2. In the Details tab, use the Sell Price Tier drop-down menu to select one Sell Price Tier.

  3. Click Save
