1. Overview
Suitability and appropriateness documentation under FIDLEG must reflect a client's current situation rather than a snapshot from the last onboarding review. Unplex keeps this documentation current automatically as mandate and client data changes.
2. Procedure
Unplex monitors the client and mandate data feeding the suitability assessment: risk profile, investment objectives, financial situation, and knowledge and experience.
When relevant data changes in the CRM — a new risk questionnaire, an updated financial situation, a portfolio rebalancing — the affected suitability or investment profile is flagged for review.
Where the update is routine, Unplex drafts the revised profile directly, citing which inputs changed and why the assessment was updated.
Every update is logged, providing a record of when and why a suitability assessment changed.
3. Scope of Automation
Unplex drafts and flags; a suitability assessment is not finalized without review by default. The degree of autonomy is configurable per workspace, from "flag for manual review" to "auto-update and notify" for lower-risk changes.
4. Rationale
Outdated suitability documentation is a common finding in FINMA reviews. Keeping profiles current as data changes, rather than only at scheduled review intervals, closes this gap without adding manual work for advisors.
Note: for a one-time due-diligence suitability check tied to a specific proposal or fund, see How to Review Documents with Unplex, Section 4.2.
