Forward your missed calls to Upfirst

With conditional call forwarding, your virtual receptionist only answers when you don't pick up. Here's how to set it up.

Want your Upfirst virtual receptionist to answer only when you can't? Conditional call forwarding sends calls to Upfirst when:

  • Your line is busy

  • You don't answer after several rings

  • Your phone is turned off or out of service

An important note for iPhone users

Important: You must disable live voicemail first. If you skip this step, your calls may go to voicemail instead of your Upfirst receptionist.

How to disable live voicemail

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Scroll down and tap Phone

  3. Tap "Call Forwarding & Visual Voicemail"

  4. Toggle off Visual Voicemail

T-Mobile

Dial each code below and press call after each one:

  • If busy: **67*[UpfirstNumber]#

  • If unanswered: **61*[UpfirstNumber]#

  • If unreachable: **62*[UpfirstNumber]#

To turn off forwarding, dial each of these then press call:

  • Turn off busy forwarding: ##67#

  • Turn off unanswered forwarding: ##61#

  • Turn off unreachable forwarding: ##62#

Verizon

Dial each code below and press call after each one:

  • If busy: *90[UpfirstNumber]

  • If unanswered: *92[UpfirstNumber]

To turn off forwarding:

Boost Mobile

Boost Mobile does not offer conditional call forwarding. However, you can forward all calls by following these directions.

Mint Mobile

Dial each code below and press call after each one:

  • If unreachable: **62*[UpfirstNumber]#

To turn off forwarding:

Conditional call forwarding instructions for popular VOIP and web phone systems

Google Voice

Google Voice doesn't allow conditional call forwarding. They only offer the option to forward all calls. You can set this up by following these instructions.

Quo (OpenPhone)

To forward unanswered calls:

  1. Login to your OpenPhone account

  2. Click Settings on the left

  3. Select the number you want to forward

  4. Go to your Call flow

  5. After “If call is missed” add a “Forward call” step

  6. Click “Pick a phone number” and add your Upfirst number

To forward calls outside of business hours:

  1. Login to your OpenPhone account

  2. Click Settings on the left

  3. Select the number you want to forward

  4. Go to your Call flow

  5. Add a "Business hours" step

  6. After the "After hours" step add a “Forward call” step

  7. Click “Pick a phone number” and add your Upfirst number

Zoom Phone

Forward calls when you're busy

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal

  2. In the left menu, click Phone

  3. Click the Settings tab

  4. Scroll to When I’m busy on another call

  5. In the dropdown, choose Forward to external number

  6. Enter your Upfirst number

  7. Toggle Require to press 1 before connecting the callOFF

  8. Check the box and click Acknowledge

  9. Click Save

Forward calls when you don't answer

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal

  2. In the left menu, click Phone

  3. Click the Settings tab

  4. Scroll to When a call is not answered

  5. In the dropdown, choose Forward to external number

  6. Enter your Upfirst number

  7. Toggle Require to press 1 before connecting the callOFF

  8. Check the box and click Acknowledge

  9. Click Save

Set your ring time (optional)

Under When a call is not answered, adjust Max Wait Time.
This controls how long Zoom rings you before forwarding to Upfirst.

Most Upfirst users set this to 15–20 seconds (around 3–4 rings).

Testing your setup

After setting up conditional call forwarding:

  1. Use another phone to call your business number

  2. Don't answer the call

  3. Your Upfirst virtual receptionist should answer after a few rings

Troubleshooting

  • If calls are still going to voicemail, double-check that live voicemail is disabled

  • If calls aren't forwarding, try disabling and re-enabling conditional call forwarding

  • Make sure you've entered your Upfirst number correctly

  • Contact your carrier if you're still having issues - some plans may need call forwarding enabled
