Subletting

Letting your room out to another student

Updated over a week ago

We understand that sometimes peoples' situations change and you may wish to leave your room for an extended period.

Can I sublet my room?

The short answer is no, unfortunately not.

If you enter into an agreement with another person to move into your room without having gone through our official process, they may find themselves without access to the room, without warning.

What does this mean?

If you arrange to sublet your room without changing over the tenancy agreement via our Early Leave process, we won't know the details for the new person, which means that if the new person fails to make payments, it's on you; if they get locked out of their room and cannot produce ID which matches our system, they will be asked to leave.

If you are leaving your accommodation before your scheduled tenancy end date and wish to relinquish your contract, you should enter into our Early Leave process via your portal.

Can I put my room on Airbnb?

Letting your room on Airbnb or a similar holiday-let website is strictly prohibited for the safety and security of our residents, guests and staff.

If you are found to be using letting out your room on one of these websites, you may face action from us, and the person to whom you are letting the room will be asked to leave.
