Cookies - User Consent

All cookies described below are first-party cookies used for analytics and personalisation.

Updated this week

Because these cookies track user activity and enable analytics/personalisation, they are not strictly necessary for the website to function. Thus, GDPR and ePrivacy regulations require active, informed consent before they can be set.

Ensure your privacy/cookie policy clearly states the purpose and duration of these cookies and that they will only be stored after the user has opted in.

Tag Manager Implementation (Consent-Based)

  1. Configure a Custom Tag

    • In your Tag Manager (e.g., Google Tag Manager), create a custom HTML tag (or equivalent) that contains the Userled script.

    • Assign a meaningful name (e.g., “Userled Tag”).

  2. Consent-Triggered Firing

    • Set the tag to fire only after the user has provided explicit consent for analytics/personalisation.

    • Ensure your cookie management platform (or CMP) sends a “consent granted” event or data layer variable that you can use as a trigger.

  3. Validate Behaviour

    • Use a private/incognito browser to confirm that no Userled cookies (e.g. userled_fingerprint_id, userled_user_id, userled_session_id, _vid_t) are set if a user refuses or ignores the analytics/personalisation consent.

    • Retest with consent granted to ensure the cookies are set correctly according to the durations above.

You can reference Google's Tag Manager consent mode support for more details on how to configure Google Tag Manager to manage how tags behave in response to consent settings.

Example: Inclusion in Cookie & Privacy Policy

Use of Userled (Data Processor)
We use a service called Userled to understand how visitors engage with our website and to provide personalised experiences. Userled acts as a data processor on our behalf and processes personal data strictly in accordance with our instructions, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

Data Processed
Userled may collect and process the following types of personal data via cookies and similar technologies:

  • Unique identifiers (e.g. a randomly generated ID) to recognise returning visitors.

  • Session information (e.g. which pages were visited, how long visitors spend on each page).

  • Technical information about the visitor’s device, such as browser type and operating system.

Purpose and Legal Basis
We rely on your consent as the legal basis for setting Userled’s non-essential cookies (e.g., for analytics and personalisation). The data collected is used to:

  • Analyse and improve our website’s performance, layout, and user experience.

  • Deliver content and features tailored to your interests and browsing history.

Cookie Duration
Userled’s cookies have varying lifespans, typically ranging from session-based (e.g. 5 minutes) to up to 1 year. For precise details on each cookie, please see the [“Cookies We Use” or “Cookie Details”] section of this policy.

Data Sharing and Transfers
Userled processes data solely on our instructions and does not share it with unauthorised third parties. Depending on Userled’s infrastructure, personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of the United Kingdom/European Economic Area. In such cases, we ensure that adequate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place to protect your personal data in compliance with applicable laws.

Your Rights

  • Opt-out: You may withdraw consent for these analytics/personalisation cookies at any time using our cookie management tool or by adjusting your browser settings.

  • Access and Deletion: If you would like to exercise your right to access or delete any personal data held by us or our processors, please see the “Your Rights” or “Contact Us” section of this policy.

Further Information
For additional details on how Userled processes data, you may consult Userled’s own privacy policy. If you have any concerns or questions about our use of Userled as a data processor, please contact us at [insert contact details].
