What next? Start iterating your inbound experiences by defining an audience

The first step in building a journey is selecting an audience. You can choose to display the experience to all website visitors, or only to a selected few.

An audience is the segment of website visitors who will enter the journey, and thus will be presented with the experiences you are creating

If you click “create a new audience, you will be prompted to select the conditions that you want to apply to define the audience.

There are 4 key conditions categories: Clearbit parameters, Acquisition, Behaviour, UTM parameters Before diving into each, let’s look at characteristics that are common across several filters conditions:

  • Conditions include dropdown parameters for further customization. Dropdown parameters differ according to whether the condition is URL-based (e.g., Visitor is currently on a specific URL), time-based (e.g., Visitor has returned to your site after some time), or frequency-based (e.g., Visitor has returned to your site a number of times).

    • More details on the dropdown parameters for each category can be found in this toggle

      • URL-based conditions include the option equal to to check for an exact URL match or the options containing and not containing to check for a given string within the URL

      • time-based conditions can be set to exactly, more than or less than a certain number of days

      • frequency-based conditions like Visitor has returned to your site a number of times require you to set up the frequency with the parameters exactly, more than or less than [] times, and the timeframe, with the parameters more than [] days ago, in the last [] days, or previously (all time frequency)

  • Multiple conditions can be nested together using and and or parameters

  • Empty conditions will be flagged through a flashing red dot. Once set up, the parameter chosen will be displayed on the right hand side, in blue

  • Conditions can be deleted by pressing on the red bin button
