How Campaign Brief Works

Learn how Twain's Campaign Brief turns a short chat into a ready-to-launch campaign, including what questions Twain asks, how to push back, and what happens after you click Create.

What is Campaign Brief?

Campaign Brief is the setup step that runs after you've picked your leads and agent. Instead of filling in a "campaign idea" text box, you have a short back-and-forth with Twain. By the time you hit Create, the campaign already knows the reason, the angle, the offer, the sequence structure, and the channels.

It replaces the old "Campaign idea" form and "Sequence steps" page. The new flow is: Leads β†’ Agent β†’ Context.


What does Twain ask during setup?

Twain walks through five questions, in order:

  1. Why now? Not your goal, but the actual reason you're reaching out to this list this week. A funding round, a hiring spike, a competitor move, a recent event. Twain will push back if you just say "book meetings."

  2. Which angle? Twain proposes a few framings based on your leads and agent. Pick one or type your own.

  3. What's the offer? What does the prospect get for replying? An audit, a benchmark, a checklist, a meeting. Twain matches the offer to the audience: cold lists get nudged toward educational offers, warmer lists toward meeting-style offers.

  4. How many steps? Twain suggests a number and explains why. You can adjust with the slider. Max is 9 steps.

  5. Which channels? Email only, LinkedIn only, or both. You can also describe a custom split in free text.


How should I answer the questions?

Any way you want. Free text works, but you can also:

  • Attach a document (a brief, a deck, a transcript) and Twain will pull context from it.

  • Pick from suggested options when Twain offers them.

  • Push back if an option doesn't fit. Just say so in plain language ("that's too corporate", "use simpler language", "focus on the economic buyer") and Twain re-proposes.

Feedback you give during the chat carries through the rest of the brief. If you ask for plainer language at step 2, step 3 and beyond will stay in that voice.


What happens at the end?

Twain shows you the full brief in one block: context, goal, angle, offer, sequence structure, and any notes. Review it, push back one more time if anything is off, then hit Create campaign.

Nothing is created until you confirm. The summary is the exact parameters Twain will use, written out so you can check them before they're applied.


What happens after I click Create?

The campaign is set up and the brief is saved to it. From the campaign view you then trigger the next steps yourself:

  • Run research on your leads (lead by lead or in batches). The brief feeds in as context so the research focuses on what's relevant to the angle and offer you picked.

  • Generate the sequence, step by step. Twain drafts each message against the brief and you review before anything goes out.

The brief stays editable after creation. Change your mind about the angle later and regenerate β€” Twain uses the updated brief automatically.


Where did Personas go in the new flow?

Personas now live inside the Agent step, not as a separate step in the breadcrumb. When you set up or edit an Agent, you'll find Personas as a tab within the Agent settings.
