How do I personalize LinkedIn outreach with Twain and n8n?

Turn inbound signals into researched, personalized LinkedIn intros and follow-ups with Twain and n8n, drafted for you to review and send yourself.

What this does

A signal comes in (a HubSpot segment, a Clay list, a webhook, or anything else that means "reach out now") and Twain researches the prospect and their company, then writes a LinkedIn intro plus the follow-ups behind it. The draft lands in Slack with the person, their company, the signal that surfaced them, and the full message sequence.

Why it helps

Good LinkedIn outreach means reading the person first, which is 15 to 20 minutes of research per prospect. So reps either fire off a generic connection note that gets ignored, or never get to it and the signal goes cold. Twain does the research and writes the copy in about 20 seconds, so the personal message is the one that actually goes out.

You stay the sender

The workflow stops at a draft. Nothing sends automatically, you read the message in Slack and send it yourself on LinkedIn. Twain works from the LinkedIn profile found during research; if a signal only includes an email, an optional lookup step can resolve the LinkedIn profile from that email. If no profile can be found, the lead is skipped with a note in Slack.

Optional: push to a LinkedIn sender

If you want to send at volume through a dedicated LinkedIn sender like HeyReach, La Growth Machine, or Dripify, there's a branch for that, but it ships disabled by default, since those tools run through your own LinkedIn account and carry real terms-of-service and ban risk. You turn it on deliberately. See Connect Twain to HeyReach for how the native HeyReach integration works.

Where the copy comes from

What goes into the intro and follow-ups, and how they read, is decided entirely in Twain. You set up a LinkedIn campaign once and describe the job in plain language: who you're reaching, what to research, and what the messages should do. Every future signal gets copy built to that brief, with no rewiring.

What you need to set this up

  • An n8n instance

  • Your Twain API key, added in n8n as a Header Auth credential (see API access)

  • An existing Twain LinkedIn campaign (intro plus follow-ups)

  • A Slack connection in n8n, plus your signal source (HubSpot, Clay, or a webhook) and, optionally, a LinkedIn sender

The whole flow ships as an importable n8n template. You can copy it, along with a full walkthrough, from the blog post: Turn Signals Into Personalized LinkedIn Outreach. After import, add your own connections and paste in your LinkedIn campaign.
