ValPay offers two pricing structures that partners can choose from based on their business model and merchant needs:
Interchange Plus Pricing
Flat Rate Pricing
This article provides a high-level overview of each option and how they differ, so you can determine which model best fits your use case.
π Interchange Plus Pricing
Best for: Partners who want transparency and flexibility, or who support merchants with varying transaction profiles.
How it works
Interchange Plus pricing separates fees into two parts:
Interchange β Set by the card networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
Plus Markup β A fixed markup set by ValPay (BIPS)
The total cost of a transaction is the actual interchange fee + ValPayβs agreed-upon markup.
Key characteristics
Transparent pricing structure
Interchange rates vary by card type and transaction details
Often beneficial for higher-volume or lower-risk merchants
Fees may vary from transaction to transaction
π¦ Flat Rate Pricing
Best for: Partners who prefer simplicity and predictable pricing.
How it works
Flat Rate pricing applies a single, fixed rate to all eligible transactions, regardless of card type or interchange category.
Key characteristics
One consistent rate per transaction
Easier to understand and explain
Predictable costs for merchants
May include higher blended rates to account for interchange variability
