Remote Access for Adyen Android Terminals

Learn how to start a remote access session on Adyen Android payment terminals through the Customer Area for troubleshooting and support.

Updated over a month ago

Adyen allows remote access to supported Android payment terminals through the Customer Area. A remote session mirrors the terminal screen in the Customer Area, allowing an authorized user to navigate menus, review settings, and assist with troubleshooting from a remote location.

What Remote Access Does

A remote session creates a duplicate view of the terminal screen in the Adyen Customer Area. During the session, you can interact with terminal menus and Android apps on the device to help troubleshoot issues or review configuration settings.

Important Requirements

Before starting a remote session, keep the following in mind:

  • Remote access is available for Android payment terminals.

  • The user must have the Merchant POS Terminal Management Admin or Merchant POS Terminal Support role in the Adyen Customer Area.

  • Someone physically present with the terminal must start the session on the device.

  • Adyen notes that WebSockets must be enabled before using this feature.

  • Supported software requirements include Verifone Android terminals, including M450 and P360, on version 1.115 or later. Other Android terminal models must be on version 1.105.2 or later.

How to Start a Remote Session

  1. Log in to the Adyen Customer Area.

  2. Under In-person payments, go to Terminals and select the terminal you want to access.

  3. Select More options > Start remote session.

  4. A one-time passcode will appear in the Customer Area.

  5. Have the person at the terminal select Start session on the payment terminal and enter the one-time passcode.

  6. Once connected, the terminal screen will appear in the Customer Area and can be used for remote troubleshooting.

  7. When finished, select End session. The session can be ended from either the Customer Area or directly on the terminal. A new one-time passcode is required for any future session.

Network / Firewall Note

Depending on the network environment, Adyen says remote access may require firewall allowlisting. Adyen specifically notes the URL http://ec2-3-74-103-52.eu-central-1.compute.amazonaws.com/ and recommends DNS resolution and domain-based allowlisting where possible. Adyen also lists the relevant IP address and ports used for remote access.

Best Practice

Before starting a session, make sure the terminal operator is available and ready to enter the one-time passcode promptly, since the session depends on local confirmation at the device.
