Where to Find House Rules

  1. Log in to your Host Dashboard at www.vidlehousing.com.

  2. Navigate to Listings → My Listings.

  3. Click the three dots (⋯) next to the listing you’d like to update and select Edit Listing.

  4. In the listing editor, scroll to the Rules section.

Basic House Rules (Checkboxes)

Under Rules, you’ll see quick checkboxes that let guests know what is and isn’t allowed at your property. These include:

  • Smoking

  • Parties or events

  • Pets

  • Children

Selecting the appropriate options ensures travelers understand your policies before booking.

Check-In and Check-Out Times

You can also add check-in and check-out times. While optional, this information is highly recommended so travelers can plan their arrival and departure accordingly.

Examples:

  • Check-in: After 3:00 PM

  • Check-out: By 11:00 AM

House Rules (Detailed Policies)

This section allows you to provide more specific guidelines, such as:

  • Maximum occupancy

  • Quiet hours (e.g., 10 PM–7 AM)

  • Fees for smoking violations

  • Fees for unauthorized pets or guests

  • Lost key or lockout fees

  • No rearranging furniture

  • No candles or open flames

  • Trash and recycling instructions

Clear rules help prevent misunderstandings and give you documentation if an issue arises.

Additional Rules & Community Guidelines

Use Additional Rules to share community-specific or neighborhood guidelines, including:

  • HOA or building rules

  • Parking restrictions or permits

  • Pool, gym, or shared space guidelines

  • Elevator or building access rules

  • Noise or courtesy expectations for neighbors

You may also include any additional fees or expectations travelers should be aware of before booking.

Check-In Instructions

Within the Rules section, you can also update your check-in instructions. These instructions are automatically sent to the traveler 24–48 hours before arrival.

Helpful check-in details include:

  • Parking instructions

  • Building or unit access information

  • Door or lockbox codes

  • Wi-Fi name and password

  • Security or gate access instructions

  • Any special arrival tips for your property

Clear check-in instructions help ensure a smooth arrival and reduce last-minute questions.

Best Practices

  • Be clear and specific to avoid confusion

  • Ensure rules align with any fees you list

  • Keep instructions updated if anything changes

  • Review your house rules periodically to ensure accuracy

Setting clear house rules helps protect your property, improves guest satisfaction, and leads to better reviews.
