Managing Access to Map Components Using Custom Permissions

By default, all map components are accessible to all users. To control which users have access to the components, follow these steps:

1. Create Custom Permission:

  • Go to Setup.

  • In the "Quick Find" field, search for "custom permissions".

  • On the Custom Permissions setup screen, click "New" to create a new custom permission.

  • Input the new custom permission Label, Name, and Description.

  • Click "Save" to create the new custom permission.

2. Enable Custom Permissions for Profiles:

  • In the "Quick Find" field, search for "profiles".

  • On the Profiles page, select the profile you want to enable custom permissions for.

  • On the Profile Overview page, hover over the "Enabled Custom Permissions" link, and click the "Edit" button.

  • If using the enhanced profile user interface, click the custom permissions link under the Apps category. and click edit.

  • On the Enable Custom Permissions page, select the created custom permission from the "Available Custom Permissions" column.

  • Click the "Add" arrow to move the custom permission to the "Enabled Custom Permissions" column.

  • Click "Save" when finished.


​3. Set Component Visibility in Vision-e Maps:

  • Go to the Vision-e Maps page.

  • Click the "Setup" icon and then "Edit Page" to open the Lightning App Builder.

  • In the Lightning App Builder, click the component you want to control access to.

  • After selecting the component, click the "Add Filter" button.

  • Add a new filter to set component visibility based on whether a profile is assigned the custom permission.

  • Click "Save" to confirm the changes.

  • Now, users with profiles without the customer permission assigned, won't be able to access the component.
