The Vision-e Maps package provides geolocation fields designed to store location data whenever a record is geocoded. By default, these fields are not included in the object’s page layout.
Geolocation fields are available for:
• Account (contains two separate geolocation fields—one for the billing address and one for the shipping address)
• Lead
• Contact
Adding geolocation fields to an object’s page layout helps you easily verify that records have been geocoded correctly. It also makes it simpler to confirm that automatic triggers, such as those clearing geolocation values when an address is updated, are functioning properly.
Adding Geolocation Fields to a Page Layout
To add a geolocation field to your page layout:
1. Go to Setup and click Object Manager.
2. Find and select the object you want to update (e.g., Account, Lead, or Contact).
3. Click Page Layouts from the sidebar menu.
4. Select the specific page layout you want to edit.
5. In the page layout editor, look for the geolocation fields at the top:
• For Accounts, you’ll see Billing Address Geolocation and Shipping Address Geolocation.
• For Leads and Contacts, look for Custom Geolocation.
6. Drag and drop the chosen geolocation field onto the desired location in the page layout.
7. When finished, click Save.
The geolocation field now appears on your page layout.
