To get Google Fit to track your exercise, follow these steps:

1. Enable Automatic Exercise Tracking (Phone Sensors)

Google Fit can automatically detect and log activities like walking, running, and cycling using your phone's sensors.

To enable automatic tracking:

  • Open Google Fit on your phone.

  • Tap Profile (bottom right).

  • Tap Settings (βš™οΈ gear icon).

  • Scroll to Tracking preferences and toggle ON:

    • Track your activities (to allow motion tracking).

    • Use location for tracking (for GPS-based activities).

2. Manually Log an Exercise Session

If Google Fit doesn't automatically track a specific workout, you can manually log it.

To add an exercise manually:

  • Open Google Fit.

  • Tap the βž• (Add button) at the bottom.

  • Select Track workout (for live tracking) or Add activity (for past workouts).

  • Choose your activity type (e.g., running, cycling, yoga, weightlifting).

  • Adjust start time, duration, and calories burned (if known).

  • Tap Save.

3. Track Workouts in Real-Time

If you want Google Fit to actively track your workout while you're exercising:

To track live workouts:

  • Open Google Fit.

  • Tap the βž• (Add button) > Track workout.

  • Select the activity type (e.g., running, biking, weight training).

  • Tap Start to begin tracking.

  • When done, tap Stop, and Google Fit will log the workout.
