MediaRadar is committed to helping customers work with advertising intelligence that is accurate, useful, and appropriate for a professional environment.
To support that commitment, we use a combination of industry-aligned content standards, supplier oversight, automated classification, and internal review processes to help identify advertising content that should not appear in the platform or be counted in spend analysis.
Industry-Standard Content Quality
The safety of our clients is very important to us. That’s why MediaRadar follows the industry-standard GARM (Global Alliance for Responsible Media) and IAB Tech Lab Brand Safety & Suitability guidelines.
This industry-standard framework is trusted by all the key players in our industry, including Google, Meta, TikTok, P&G, Unilever, and Mastercard. Learn about the framework in more detail here.
What We Filter – and Why
MediaRadar actively monitors and filters two levels of industry-standard content:
Floor Level (most explicit, often illegal):
Adult & Explicit Sexual Content: Explicit depictions of sexual acts, display of genitals (real or animated), or any CSAM
Arms & Ammunition: Promotion/advocacy of illegal arms sales or instructional content on obtaining/making/using illegal weapons
Crime & Harmful Acts: Graphic promotion of willful harm, criminal activity, or human rights violations (e.g., human trafficking, animal cruelty)
Hate Speech: Content inciting hatred, promoting violence, or dehumanizing individuals/groups based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
Illegal Drugs & Tobacco: Glamorization of illegal drug use, prescription drug abuse, or sale of tobacco/vaping to minors
Terrorism: Content from or promoting designated terrorist organizations or their acts
High Risk Level (professional environment standards):
Suggestive Settings: Sexually suggestive situations requiring adult supervision or age-warnings
Nudity: Full or liberal nudity, even non-explicit/"softcore"
Violence & Obscenity: Excessive profanity, graphic/repulsive actions intended to shock, glorification of profanity
Sensitive Social Issues: Content treating debated social issues in an insensitive, highly partisan, or conflict-inciting manner
Military Conflict: Live-action footage of military actions, war crimes, or genocide that glamorize harmful acts
Data Quality: An Always-On Initiative
These safeguards are part of our evergreen investments in data quality. As new channels, formats, and creative behaviors emerge, we continue to refine how we detect, classify, and filter content so customers can use MediaRadar with confidence.
In most cases, this content will be removed before it ever hits the UI. However, in some edge cases, updates may result in small changes to creative activity or spend if content is reclassified or removed due our adoption of an evolved, higher level of safety.
