National Syndication commercial occurrences are identified through an automated cross-market comparison of ad placements within syndicated program telecasts. The matching process takes into account the fact that a syndication telecast airs at different times and/or on different dates across markets. After telecasts have been matched and the national ad occurrences within them have been identified, our systems align the cleared airings across markets and determine the most common airtime (adjusted for time zone). This most common time appears in reports as the airtime of a National Syndication ad occurrence.

Expenditure Data

Effective with January 2018 data, expenditures for national Syndication advertising are primarily derived from data obtained through the SQAD NETCOSTS system. Vivvix receives a monthly report detailing the average cost of a 30-second spot broken out by syndicator, program category and program sub-category. The report is based on actual spot purchases made by NETCOST contributors and reflects negotiated costs, the actual weighting of upfront and scatter buys, and the incidence of no-charge spots. T

he NETCOST inputs are entered into a proprietary model to produce an average 30-second cost for each national Syndication program.

Prior to January 2018, Syndication expenditures were derived from 30-second cost information, at the program level, supplied by contributing media agencies.

Caution: Expenditure estimates produced by these two methodologies are not directly comparable, thus causing trending disruption.

Ratings Sources

NSS program ratings are available.

Vivvix has integrated the “Live”, “Live Plus Same Day” and “Live Plus 7 Day” Time Shifted rating streams. These streams refer to the audience for a given occurrence in relation to the broadcaster airing date and time. The "Live" stream refers to the audience for the live broadcaster airing. The "Live Plus Same Day" stream incorporates the live audience along with any additional audience measured for playback on the same day as the airing. The "Live Plus Seven Days" stream includes the live audience plus the audience measured for playback within one week of the airing.

Commercial Ratings for Syndication are available. Commercial ratings are average ratings for commercial minutes aired within a single program.

The following Time-Shifted rating streams are available for Commercial Ratings:

• Live

• Live Plus Three Days

• Live Plus Same Day

• Live Plus Seven Day
