Vivvix Newspaper currently measures advertising space in 82 Daily and Sunday Newspaper editions and Sunday Magazines.
Data for the Sunday magazines distributed with these newspapers are included with the exception of New York Times Magazine, Parade, American Profile, and T Magazine (See Sunday Magazine methodology). Newspaper reporting also includes zones & preprint activity where provided through March 2020.
Display advertising is initially classified into four areas: Retail, General, Automotive or Financial.
Display advertising expenditures are based on national open inch rates for General, Automotive and Financial. For Retail, volume contact rates are used. Where available, days of week or section specific rates are used.
Each month, Vivvix updates local newspaper rate card information so that our reporting system is utilizing the most current rate information available to us. Due to the late receipt of some rate card information, we create rate change effective dates that start prior to month the data was inputted. These changes are retroactively applied to the effective date.
National Newspapers
Vivvix measures three National Newspapers: New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal. All national and regional editions are measured for New York Times & Wall Street Journal. USA Today measurement is based on the national edition only.
Data for the Wall Street Journal and USA Today are measured within Vivvix's Magazine Service. Refer to the Consumer Magazine tab for data collection and rates methodology. Data for the New York Times are measured In Vivvix's Newspaper Service. Refer to the newspaper tab for data collection and rates methodology. Because these services use different methodologies, advertising occurrence and expenditure information for these publications may be reported differently within each service.
Please note: Category B999 is exclusive to Wall Street Journal and includes all brands that ran 50 lines or less, too small to be classified elsewhere. All such brands are identified with "(W)" after the brand name.
