Use AI Voice

AI Voice is a high-quality text-to-speech feature powered by the latest AI voice technology, such as ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Grok (xAI), that sounds as natural as a human voice.

How It Differs from Standard Voices

  • More natural intonation and pacing than standard device voices, making it easier to listen to for long periods.

  • Audio is generated over the internet, so a connection is required when loading.

  • Generating audio uses credits. Repeat playback of audio you have already loaded does not use credits.

  • This is separate from "Use High Quality Audio" (enhanced voices downloaded to your device).

What You Need

  • A Voicepaper Plus subscription plus an additional AI Voice plan.

  • Plus users can try AI Voice for free with up to 300 credits.

Enable AI Voice

  • Tap the Voice button at the bottom of the screen to open Voice Settings.

  • Select AI Voice.

  • Turn on Enable and select the voice you want to use.

  • Open a text and tap play. The AI voice loads and playback starts.

Load a Playlist with AI Voice

On the reading list, tap the playlist name, then choose Load Playlist with AI Voice. Voicepaper checks unloaded texts, estimated credits, and remaining credits, then prepares the remaining AI Voice audio in sequence. Already loaded audio is reused.

From the same playlist menu, choose Create Audio from Playlist, then Use AI Voice to load the playlist and create one audio file.

Choose & Preview Voices

  • You can choose from six AI voices: ChatGPT voices (Marin, Cedar, Ash) and Grok voices (Eve, Ara, Rex).

  • Tap Play Sample Text to preview voices for free, without using credits — find your favorite voice before purchasing.

Supported Languages

More than 20 languages are supported, including English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Korean, French, German, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Privacy Policy

When you use AI voice or AI translation features, your text is not stored on Voicepaper servers. For details, see the privacy policy.
