Overview
Modules are the e-learning element of the onboarding and compliance management on Volunteero. Modules are reusable learning content made up of lessons and optional quizzes.
To use your modules, you put them into a course. Here is an article on how to create a course. Create once and add to multiple courses.
Please note: each module can contain only one quiz section. If you need different quizzes for different sections, keep the modules shorter, create separate modules and combine them into a course.
Modules can’t award a volunteer a qualification and/or groups; modules need to be part of a course for this.
Lessons
Your modules will consist of Lessons. Lessons are created by you on the platform and can consist of:
Text & images
A PDF document
A Video
The video is hosted on Volunteero, no third party, so no ads, and we won’t allow the volunteer to skip through the video.
Quiz
Each module can include a quiz to assess understanding. Quizzes may contain a mix of question types, including:
Single-choice questions
Multiple-choice questions
True/false questions
Short-answer questions
Long-answer questions
You can define a pass mark by setting a percentage threshold required to pass the quiz. Please note that when short-answer or long-answer questions are included, automatic grading and pass/fail scoring are not available. In these cases, manual review and staff sign-off will be required. Quizzes can also be disabled entirely if they are not needed for a module.
How to create a Module
Go to your staff dashboard, click on onboarding and navigate to modules
Click on +Module and give the module a name and description.
You can now start creating lessons for your module, click on +lesson
Your lesson can consist of:
text & images
pdf
video.
You can start creating your lesson by dragging and dropping one of the above.
Your lesson must contain at least one lesson, but it can also include multiple lessons.
Keep in mind that each module can only contain one quiz section. If different sections require separate quizzes, it’s best to keep your modules short by creating multiple modules and combining them into a course.
Once you’ve finished creating your lessons, you can set up a quiz to complete your module and check your volunteers’ understanding.
Click + Enable Quiz and start dragging and dropping your questions into place.
You can make a question required by clicking the asterisk
For single choice, multiple choice, and true/false questions, be sure to select the checkbox next to the correct answer for each question.
If your quiz consists only of single-choice, multiple-choice, and true/false questions, you can set a pass score for the quiz. Please note that auto-grading is not available for quizzes that include short-answer or long-answer questions.
Once you have completed your lessons and quiz, you can publish your module and begin using it in your courses. If you need to make changes after publishing, you can update and republish the module at any time, and the changes will appear in your live courses immediately.
Please read the following article to learn more about creating and managing your courses as this is the only way to use your modules.
