How to create and manage volunteer roles

Written by Lydia Clarke

Setting volunteer roles is a great way to allow more senior volunteers to manage other volunteers in missions. In this article, we will tell you how to create these roles and assign them to a volunteer on a mission.

How to create a role for volunteers

  1. Go to the 'missions' section on the left of the dashboard

  2. Select 'Roles' on the right side of the 'Active' missions tabs

  3. Select '+ Role'

  4. Give the new role a name and description

  5. Select which permissions this role will have

  6. Select 'Create role'

How to assign volunteers to a role

  1. Select the mission

  2. Select 'Interested volunteers'

  3. On the role column, click on 'no role' on the volunteer you would like to add a role to

  4. Assign them the role

  5. You can also restrict them to groups (this means they will only manage volunteers in a certain group)

  6. Click 'Apply changes'

  7. You can now view which volunteers have been given a role. All those with 'No role' will have no permissions to manage other volunteers.
