How to set up a one-to-one volunteer chat

Chats with individuals follow a similar functionality to group chats. It is essentially a chat between the organisation and the volunteer. Any relevant staff member will be able to see the chat.

Firstly, open the Volunteero chat window. The Volunteero chat window is opened by pressing the icon on the top right of the management dashboard (as shown below)

Press in the bar labelled "Search for people and chats"

Here you can find the volunteer you wish to message. When you press on the volunteer, one of 2 things will happen.

"Create volunteer chat" - This means that no one in the organisation has directly messaged that volunteer before. Select this option to start the chat with that volunteer, you can then send them a message.

"Join" - This means the someone from the organisation has directly messaged this volunteer before. If you join then you will be able to contribute to that chat and send messages to that volunteer.

Rules of a one-to-one volunteer chat

The chat you create with your volunteer is a chat between your charity and a volunteer.

  • It's the central place for direct communications with a volunteer.

  • Multiple staff users can be added with an invite

  • Staff users with chat administrator privileges can join this chat without an invite

  • Only one volunteer chat per volunteer
