Your volunteers manage their own notifications. These notification can be altered in the notification section on their profile on the app. They will also need to make sure they have allowed notifications in their phone settings from Volunteero. They will be able to allow this when first downloading the app or they can go back into their settings and enable notifications for the Volunteero app there.
They can choose to get either app or email notifications for the following actions:
When they are assigned to a mission
When they have been assigned or removed from a shift
When new missions are available
This can be set to Daily or Weekly by the volunteer.
When set to daily, this will go out at some point during the day, not straight after the creation of a mission. This is done as you might create multiple missions at the same time.
When they have been inactive with an ongoing mission
When mission is starting / ending
When a shift is starting / ending
Unread chat messages summary
Setting up mission notification preferences as a staff user:
When a mission is about to start and after it has ended
You can set up these notification in the mission template. Please note that your mission will need to have a timeframe specified in order for the reminder to work.
When a shift is about to start or after it has ended
Similar to the mission reminders you will have to go into the mission template to set up the shift reminders.
When a volunteer hasn't submitted a report for a certain time period
The volunteers show they are active on your mission by submitting a report. You can set the frequency of these reminders on the mission template. Here you can decide whether you want your volunteers to report to you every 2 days or every week for example.
Please note- that these notifications are set regardless of a start time on the mission. Worth bearing this in mind if you are allowing volunteers to join a future mission and have your notifications set to a regular frequency, the system will send these report reminders before the mission start time. These reminders are often used for ongoing missions with no set start time, e.g. weekly befriending or tin collections
If your volunteer is not receiving notifications despite everything being set up correctly, try the following troubleshooting steps:
Check the Junk/Spam Folder: Ask them to look in their email junk or spam folder for notifications.
Review Notification Settings: Have them open the app and navigate to their notification settings to ensure they are turned on.
Confirm App Notifications Are Enabled: Make sure notifications are enabled within the app itself.
Verify Phone Notification Permissions: Ensure that the volunteer has allowed notifications from Volunteero in their phone’s settings. See the image below for guidance.
Check Notification Frequency: Confirm that the notification frequency is set appropriately (e.g. daily or weekly).
If they are still not receiving notifications, please contact us using the Support button in the app.
