What is a Course Unit?
Course units are made up of lessons that are carefully chosen and sequenced to help learners achieve specific objectives. They are the building blocks of a Course, and the user has to enroll in the Course they belong to before starting them.
What is a Dynamic Unit?
Dynamic Units are generated for each individual learner based on the topic of the unit, the learner's level, and the most recently published lessons. You can repeat this unit as many times as you like with newly published lessons!
What is a Course?
Courses are designed to prepare learners for specific objectives like reaching their next proficiency level or succeeding in a particular career in English. They usually have several units covering a related topic.
How do I choose units?
When you first start with Voxy, your units are chosen based on your interests and goals. You learn best when you practice with material that is interesting and relevant to your life! If you ever want to choose other units or enroll in courses, visit the Catalog and browse all the options. You can have up to three units at any time.
Why does the unit repeat?
This is a Dynamic Unit, which automatically updates with brand-new content every day based on real-time news and topics.
Because it stays in your "My Units" section, it may look like you are repeating the same unit—but you aren't! Every time you open it, you will get fresh lessons and new activities. You will never see the same lesson twice, so feel free to keep practicing as long as the topic interests you.
How many units must I do?
In order to improve, we recommend doing between 6 and 13 lessons a week in combination with time spent in the Word Bank, the Grammar Guide, and Live Instruction. You can continue with one unit, or you can do many different units. Your course is flexible to help you meet your own specific goals. If you need some guidance about how to spend time studying, check your Study Plan.
Which units are right for my level?
The lessons in your units adapt to your level, so the best way to study is to choose units that are interesting to you.
A pro tip:
Voxy's group classes focus on topics that match the units we have. Visit the Group Classes page to look for an upcoming class that's related to one of the units you're currently taking lessons from. You'll enjoy the class more and have great ideas to contribute!
